Today it is time for the second part of “meet the heroes”: Blik op Afrika.
“Blik op Afrika” is a well established Belgian NGO with a strong presence in Central Africa. Blik op Afrika supports high impact projects in education and health care. This combination of schooling and healthcare represents the backbone of Blik op Afrika. They focus on improving infrastructure for healthcare and education, and also support the teachers and healthcare professionals who work in the schools and hospitals. Lastly, Blik op Afrika also provides assistance to farmers in livestock management, and agricultural techniques. Currently, Blik op Afrika is active in RDC (Kwilu province), Burundi (Ijenda) and Cameroun (Foumbot).

For all their activities, Blik op Afrika cooperates closely with their main local partner: ONGD of Oeuvres des Sœurs Annonciades au Congo. ONGD is a local sister community consisting of more than 100 sisters. The sisters of ONGD have been active in Congo (DRC) for over 80 years, and have earned the respect of local communities.
Personally, I am inspired by he structural character of the projects of Blik op Afrika. Infrastructure and agricultural innovation support communities in the long run. Therefore I believe blik op Afrika and long cycling trips make a great match.
